Our Families
Parents and families are essential partners for a child’s success in the school environment. At St. Mary’s, we welcome parental involvement in our school community.
Volunteer
Parents and family members are welcome at school any time. We encourage parents to communicate with the child’s teacher to coordinate classroom visits to ensure a positive experience for parent and child. Many volunteer opportunities – both at school and remotely – are available. From carpool helpers and room parent duties to campus beautification and event planning, there’s always a chance to get involved.
Each class has at least one room parent. Room parents act as liaisons between the teachers and parents, helping to coordinate class parties and special events, provide classroom support and promote parent socials. They help communicate information regarding class or school-wide programs to the parents in their child’s class. All parents are encouraged to actively participate in the community and make connections through volunteering.
Communicate
Our teachers communicate with parents in a variety of ways. At pick-up each day, your child’s teacher will facilitate a conversation between you and your child about the day’s experience. Teachers also are able to share weekly, and sometimes daily, updates about class activities via email, text message, and through our Playground App. We encourage families to keep us informed about changes and challenges at home, so that we can help you address any concerns.
Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled two times a year. This is a valuable time where parents and teachers can talk about each child and address individual questions and developmental progress.
All families also receive a monthly e-newsletter with school updates and stories from the classrooms.class activities via email, text message, and through our Playground APP. We encourage families to keep us informed about changes and challenges at home, so that we can help you address any concerns.

Celebrate
Family events and social activities are scheduled throughout the year, giving opportunities for our families to enjoy and become active participants in our community. Our annual Halloween Parade, Grand Friend’s Day, Dads and Donuts and our Mother’s Day Teas, all encourage our parents to take time from their busy days to enjoy a few school moments and get to know fellow parents. The fall Social for Moms is also a great time to get to know others in the community. Often, there are impromptu afternoon picnics on the playground or nature trail which, especially for new parents at St. Mary’s is a wonderful way to meet other parents. Our School Carnival fundraiser is our grand finale for the year highlighting our school community and providing lots of great fun for all who come to celebrate.
