St. Mary’s Episcopal School

Reflects the joy of learning and growth in the love of God, family and friends.

Parent Involvement

Parents and families are essential partners in the preschool environment. At St. Mary’s, we welcome parental involvement in our school community.

Volunteering at School

Parents and family members are welcome at school any time. We encourage parents to communicate with their child’s teacher to coordinate classroom visits to ensure a positive experience for parent and child. Many volunteer opportunities – both at school and remotely – are available. From carpool helpers and room parent duties to campus beautification and event planning, there’s always a chance to get involved.

Each class has at least one room parent. Room parents act as liaisons between the teachers and parents, helping to coordinate class parties, special events, classroom support and socials. Room parents help communicate information to the parents in their class and help promote school-wide programs. Each room parent makes sure all parents in each class have a chance to help out as they are able and works to develop opportunities for the families to get to know each other.

Communication with Teachers

Our teachers communicate with parents in a variety of ways. At pick-up each day, your child’s teacher will facilitate a conversation between you and your child about the day’s experience. Teachers also are able to share weekly, and sometimes daily, updates about class activities via email and text message. We encourage families to keep us informed about changes and challenges at home, so that we can help you address any concerns.

One-on-one in-person parent-teacher conferences are scheduled two times a year. This is a valuable time where parents and teachers can talk about each child and address individual questions and developmental progress.

All families also receive a monthly e-newsletter with school updates and stories from the classrooms.

Socials

Family events and social activities are scheduled several times a year, allowing our families to get to know one another. From our annual Halloween parade and very popular spring festival to volunteer activities and last-minute picnics after school, new families soon feel very much at home at St. Mary’s.
